It’s not only nature that can be seen in the whizzling white water of the Gesäuse these days. Easy to spot are also the colourful boats and helmets of the water sports enthusiasts in the rivers. How to do a proper kayak roll, how to navigate eddies – these and many other questions will be answered during the Kayak BaseCamp.
The course is imparted by an experienced professional kayaker who does not only know each of the river’s currents, but will also provide you with recommendations on what to do in the Gesäuse. The participants must be older than 12, good swimmers and will paddle down the rivers in groups of 3 to 6 people.
After 3 days you’ll know the Gesäuse – its waters and its land – inside out. Here, where the national and the nature park intertwine, the flora and fauna is sheer endless. And of course after those 3 days you’ll also have completed a real kayak course where you’ll have learnt how to navigate white water on your own and where you’ll have explored your personal limits.
Oh and by the way – there’s no bad weather in the Gesäuse, we just put up with it. When the sun shines the turquoise water sparkles just as much as the smiles of the water enthusiasts. And when it rains, we don’t quit, just the opposite. The Kayak BaseCamp is also the perfect activity for those days when the weather is not quite up to par.
